Day 1 • Inti Raymi Full Day Tour

Inti Raymi

Every year on winter solstice, Inca gathered in their capital, Cuzco, to celebrate their most important God: Inti, the god of the sun. The day was marked with huge processions, led on by the leader of the empire and his wife, and rituals such as offerings to Pachamama, Mother Earth, in sites in Cuzco town and Sacsayhuamán ruins nearby.

Today, Inti Raymi is still the biggest festival in all Peru, and sees hundreds of actors reenact the impressive annual Inca celebration.

Our 6-hour tour starts around 9am. If you're an early bird, do go and witness other parts of the festival at the Plaza de Armas and Coricancha temple by yourselves beforehand from around 7.30am! You'll join the tour and travel to Sacsayhuamán ruins, where you'll experience the spectacular reenactment of rituals in this special place.

Later, you'll get taken back to your hotel where you'll spend another night in the group hotel.

This add-on includes entrance to the festival at Sacsayhuamán (green area, worth €170), English-speaking guide, transport, picnic lunch and overnight stay in shared twin accommodation in the group hotel in Cuzco, breakfast (single accommodation is available for a €40 uplift - just ask!).
