Fujikawaguchiko is located in southern Yamanashi Prefecture, in the foothills of Mount Fuji and shares Lake Kawaguchi, one of the Fuji Five Lakes, with neighboring Minobu.
The town is easily accessible by train from all major cities in Japan. In the Kawaguchiko area you can have magnificent views of Mount Fuji. Beyond the incredible views of Mount Fuji, Fujikawaguchiko and its surroundings offer many popular activities to do with family and friends: walking in Aokigahara Forest, having a picnic in Oishi Park, spending a day at Fuji Q Highland Amusement Park, visiting nearby temples and shrines… many options to make the most of Japan's holiest mountain.
Interesting facts about Fujikawaguchiko
Visit the Arakurayama Sengen Shrine and its Chureito Pagoda. The shrine is built at the foot of a mountain with about 400 steps leading to the top where the pagoda is located. A path winding around the pagoda leads to the observation deck where you will have a fantastic view of the pagoda in the foreground, the city in the background and Mount Fuji towering above!
Book a ticket to explore the three caves called Ice Cave, Wind Cave and Bat Cave and learn a little more about what life was like there a hundred years ago.
Taste the local produce! Hoto noodles are very famous in the Kawaguchiko area.
