Peru for Insiders

I had a fantastic time in Peru! Breathtakingly beautiful scenery, delicious food, great people, amazing activities and visits to some amazing Inca sites! What more could one ask for? My personal favourite moments of the trip where visiting colca canyon to view the condors soaring over spectacular views, the mini hike to get back and to top it off a afternoon of relax in thermal baths! And the icing on the cake of the whole trip....The Inca trail! Seeing Machu Picchu appear infront of us as the sun sets on the view point after a day hike! Truly unforgettable!! Thank you Indico

Peru for Insiders

Peru is a big country packed with things to do, and this was a really thoughtful and well-crafted itinerary. I would never be able to organise this trip alone. Here you will eat lots of delicious food, get lots of fresh air, and make lots of incredible memories. I really appreciated the way we climbed elevation, and then dropped down in altitude from Lake Titicaca into Cusco thus ensuring we were well acclimatised for the Inca trail. This was quite an active holiday with some early mornings, but there were opportunities to take it easy. E.g. the thermal springs after our visit to Colca Canyon was just perfect. The Inca trail day-hike was incredible, and whilst you don't need to be an experienced hiker I'd recommend if you can doing a couple of hikes around 10km before your trip. Our guide had spare walking poles, which I'd never used before but I found very useful when climbing the steps. Staying with Gregorio and his family by Lake Titicaca was also extremely special - I loved having the opportunity to get to know them. If possible, I'd also recommend learning as much Spanish as you're able to. If like me you're also into knitting and/or crochet you will get a lot of excitement and inspiration as well :) Our guide was from Cusco, and so being shown this area by him was a great experience and we got some excellent recommendations. I loved learning about the history of the country throughout our trip. Overall I absolutely loved this Indico adventure, & I highly recommend it!

FAQs

A visa is not required for most major countries for touristic visits lasting less than 90 days, but you must hold a passport valid at least six months on entry with one blank visa page. Please also hold proof of onward/return flights. Please always double-check with your local authorities to confirm that the entry requirements haven't changed.

On October 27, 2022 Peru lifted its Covid entry requirements as well as all other regulations, and restrictions that were in place to avoid the spreading of Covid. Therefore you don't need to show your vaccination certificate.

You may be required to wear face masks on public transport or select other places during the tour - your guide will let you know. It's recommended to comply with other biosafety measures (like distancing, handwashing, ventilation).

Be sure to check the COVID requirements for any countries of transit along your flight route.

As a tour operator, we are not allowed to give specific vaccination recommendations for liability reasons. We strongly recommend that you consult your local doctor or, even better, a qualified doctor specialized in tropical diseases in good time before your trip. Here are some relevant links for residents of several countries: UK: Gov.uk, USA: U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Germany: Auswärtiges Amt.

Please note that for our Colombia tour, a yellow fever vaccination is not mandatory.

As soon as we have confirmed that the minimum number of participants for your trip has been reached and the trip is therefore guaranteed to take place, you can book your flights. The trip will be confirmed or cancelled at least 45 days before departure. We will be happy to give you tips on booking flights! By the way: it is in our interest to fill the trips as soon as possible, so we do our best to confirm them as soon as possible.

A trip is guaranteed to take place when the minimum number of participants has been reached. If you have already booked before the minimum number of participants has been reached, we will let you know, so you can book your flights. We will confirm or cancel the trip no later than 45 days before the scheduled departure date. If a trip has to be cancelled unexpectedly, you will of course receive a 100% refund of your deposit or any other payments made.

This tour is a fairly active tour, and great for people who enjoy hiking. There are several hikes during the tour, most notably the one-day Inca trail (7 hours - but you can skip this) and a 3-hour hike in the Colca Canyon. You don't need to be a fitness fanatic to take part in the tour, but to take part in all hikes, you'll be someone who works out once a week and enjoys moving.

If you aren't to keen on the idea of hiking for 7 hours, you may choose to take a train straight to Aguas Calientes and skip the Inca Trail if you prefer, you'll see Machu Picchu in its glory the next day with the group.

Note that many of the locations we visit are situated at quite a high altitude, which adds to the physical exertion. The route we take, via Arequipa, does help your body acclimatize step by step, and make sure you're hydrating to help your body adapt.
