Day 3 • Into the desert!

Stay at a desert camp
Stargazing in the Sahara
See wild Berber monkeys
Today, you embark on your journey deep into the world's largest desert: the Sahara! After breakfast, you hop on your private bus and prepare to marvel at Morocco's diverse, ever-changing landscape. Among other places, you will stop near the typical Berber town of Azrou. Here, you can hear noises coming from the cedar forest: A group of adorable Berber monkey is playing among the trees! These adorable little critters are quite tame and if you’re lucky, you might even get to pet one!
During the next leg of the drive we get to see the tents of nomadic shepherds and their herds of goats and sheep. You get to snap amazing pictures at the magnificent gorges of Ziz Valley, see towering palm trees as your drive past oasis and start to feel a real desert vibe, when you spot the little mud villages along the road. Upon arrival in Erfoud, where Morocco’s last road ends, you take a 4x4 jeep to get you to Merzouga - a little desert village next to the breathtaking „sea of sand“ Erg Chebbi.
It is here, where we have to once again change our mode of transportation to accommodate for the difficult terrain: A camel ride through the majestic sand dunes of the Sahara is a must on every Morocco trip! When you finally arrive at your desert camp, you are greeted by a fabulous meal around the campfire, accompanied by live music from the local Berber tribes. As you look up, you see a night sky like you’ve never seen before. You can easily make out the Milky Way with your naked eye. If you’re lucky, you might even see a meteor or two!
